The numbers of tourism in Italy are falling sharply. There are however some “oases” in which this negative trend is reversed, thanks also to the appeal exercised, in these still difficult times, by the so-called proximity tourism. This is the case of Asolo, where both the last weekend from 27 to 28 June and the previous weekend from 20 to 21 June were recorded more than a thousand tourist presences. The figure is confirmed by the number of tickets sold for the entrance to the Rocca, reopened on 19 June after the completion of the restoration works, and for access to the Museum, the Civic Tower and guided tours of the historic center. “These positive data – comments Mayor Mauro Migliorini – are the result of the combination of different elements: the fact that Asolo is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, to have carried out promotional work, to have focused on slow tourism, to have managed to open the Rocca, to be an open-air museum. All this means that at this moment the work is rewarded and tourists choose these types of reality because they consider these types of villages safe, where people are passionate about walking, being outdoors, where visitors are at ease , where safety regulations are respected “. The attractiveness of Asolo for weekend tourism is also greatly favored by the contribution of the economic activities of the historic center, committed to contributing to the pleasantness and hospitality of the village. “There are a whole series of activities – adds the mayor – which also lead to a supply chain for public businesses, for commerce and for hotel and restaurant accommodation facilities that are increasing their attendance and their numbers. Then you must also reward the creativity of the exhibitors who made the historic center of Asolo a beautiful garden, with the use of the stalls made available: some with rose gardens, some with green plants, some creating real gardens with a beach for years’ 60 ».
