BRASILIA, KOMPAS.com – President Brazil Jair Bolsonaro said would hit a face journalists when asked about the deposit of funds in his wife’s account by the former assistant of one of his sons.

Questions about Queiroz seem to bother Bolsonaro and break his promise of zero tolerance corruption.

Reporting from The Guardian, in Brazilian media reports that between 2011 and 2017 at least 89,000 Brazilian rials (IDR 233 million) were paid into the account of Brazil’s first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro vowed to eradicate corruption when he came to power in 2018.

As he stood outside the Catholic Cathedral of Brasilia, Bolsonaro then branded journalist from Or Balloon it as naughty (dirt bag).

His comments immediately sparked criticism from members of the media and opposition politicians.

Minutes after Bolsonaro’s statement was reported, Brazilian journalists have launched a coordinated online campaign.

They flooded the same question to Bolsonaro’s Twitter account.

“President Jair Bolsonaro, why did your wife Michelle receive 89,000 Brazilian rials from Fabricio Queiroz?” they asked.

There has been no immediate response from Bolsonaro’s Twitter account, which has 6.6 million followers.

On Sunday night, the campaign went viral with several Brazilian activists, academics and artists, including the legendary composer Caetano Veloso, joining the journalists.
