The co-founder of “Continuing Change” Asen Vassilev, who is expected to become finance minister in the next coalition cabinet, is proposing a smooth retirement of the administration and the entry of young people into the hierarchy through public competitions.

Key retirees with a lot of knowledge will remain as advisers and collaborators, Vassilev assured and added that “it is not normal for 15-20% of some administrations to be of retirement age.

As an example of rejuvenating the government, he gave Nikola Minchev, elected today as Speaker of the National Assembly. “The sign with his promotion to the post is that a new generation is coming without commitments, which is constructive, does not cause injuries (…) So that not only this generation can work in Bulgaria, but also their friends to return,” Vassilev continued.

Asked why the negotiations on the political part of the coalition agreement and the discussion of the names of candidates for ministers are secretly conducted by the general public, Vassilev answered that in any normal company or country you can’t say that “Pesho is bad, Tosho is good”. and applications are considered behind closed doors.

Asked “when you will put the line of negotiations”, Vassilev replied: “When we understand each other. Until we reach the final text, nothing is final and nothing is clear.”

Vassilev said he had not yet seen next year’s draft budget prepared by the caretaker government. All the detailed breakdowns are to be seen in order to assess whether it can be used as a basis for next year’s budget and how it could be transformed in the fastest way. He added that if there are new ministries or restructuring, a complete overhaul will be needed.
