Former Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Arnis Cimdars will help as an expert in organizing the extraordinary elections of the Riga City Council, Cimdars said.
Cimdars said that during the meeting with the Riga City Election Commission, he had accepted the challenge to participate in this election process as an expert in the field of elections.
For the former long-term head of the CEC, the main emphasis in his new job is to prepare health care procedures or protocols to reduce the spread of Covid-19, as well as to assist with the training of district staff and the implementation of the requirements of these protocols in the districts.
Cimdars pointed out that, consequently, the issue of his possible start in the Riga City Council elections was no longer relevant.
In turn, the former head of CVK plans to decide on the possibility to work in politics in the long run and allows to enter politics in a gradual process. Cimdars pointed out that there have been cases when “the whirlwind of entering politics is closing just as fast”.
As reported, Cimdars is considering engaging in long-term policy to contribute in line with his experience in public administration.
