Artists and architects enliven public space, installations remain on Prague streets until September – News of the World

This year’s edition has the subtitle Journey from the City and featured leading architects and visual artists. For example, the couple Aleš Hnízdil and Aleš Kurz draw attention to the waste of civilization, Jan Zdvořák created a memorable object from recycled material.

From the architects from the Mjölk studio, on the map of the festival we can find a twelve meter beam designed for games and sports, as well as a wooden pergola, which will be used for relaxation. Elhl & Koumar architects are the authors of the temporary gazebo in Jarov.

Nami Ňami studio has prepared an installation that will be used for children’s games, Jan Tyrpekl offers a mobile marquee on the path of the old sideline. Anna Beata Háblová brought the poetry into the bridge behind the Nákladový nádraží, and an armchair by Zdeňek Ruffer made passers-by sit down.

Tips and tricks

The festival is dedicated to the wider context of architecture, landscape, public space and art, and its main program will be accompanied by exhibitions, lectures and discussions.

One of the traditional and important presentations of the festival is the presentation of the winners and finalists of the European Prize for Urban Public Space, which presents a selection of the most interesting initiatives in the field of public space revitalization in 2020- 2022. The competition is organized every two years by the Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona.
