Artist Dmitry Nazarov faces charges for defaming the Russian Armed Forces in the Russian Federation.

An administrative protocol has been drawn up against the Russian theater and film actor Dmitry Nazarov “for discrediting the Armed Forces of Russia”, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow.

“The report on Nazarov D.Yu. was registered in court on March 21, the date for its consideration has not yet been set,” the representative of the court said, emphasizing that the report was drawn up specifically for the artist Nazarov, and not for his full namesake.

Note that at present, Dmitry Nazarov and his wife, actress Olga Vasilyeva, who left Russia, are on tour in Israelspeaking with the program “L’amour-mur or Power on one side”.

In January, Nazarov and Vasilyeva were fired from the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. “Moskovsky Komsomolets” then wrote that the reason for the dismissal was “public statements of a popular artist (Nazarov) not only about the SVO, but also his anti-Russian sentiments.” The artistic director of the theater, Konstantin Khabensky, allegedly “tried to reason with” Nazarov, but after an interview with the actor, in which he “frankly slandered Russia”, fired him and his wife, “who also does not hide her anti-Russian position,” wrote MK.

Dmitry Nazarov is best known as the performer of one of the main roles in the TV series “Kitchen”. He has served at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater since 2002, his wife Olga Vasilyeva since 2005.

On February 26, 2022, two days after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nazarov posted a video on his YouTube channel in which he and his wife performed the song “Do Russians Want Wars?” lyrics by Yevgeny Yevtushenko.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Nazarov has regularly posted videos on social media of himself reciting anti-war poetry, sometimes with Vasilyeva.
