Experimental advanced superconducting tokamak known as “artificial sun”

In the course of the last experiment, the plasma in the experimental setup reached 70 million degrees – temperatures five times stronger than the Sun.

The Chinese thermonuclear reactor EAST set a new record for sustainably high temperatures – it reached 70 million degrees Celsius, having worked for more than 17 minutes. This was reported by the agency Xinhua.-

It is noted that the plasma in the installation was heated five times stronger than the Sun, and in this mode the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, known as the artificial sun, worked for 1056 seconds.

The ultimate goal of the project is to generate near-limitless clean energy that mimics the natural reactions that take place inside stars.

The agency emphasizes that fusion energy leaves no hazardous waste, and the raw materials needed for the “artificial sun” are found on Earth in virtually unlimited quantities.

The project has already cost China more than $ 943 billion.

Last year, Chinese scientists held a plasma discharge at a temperature of 120 million degrees in a tokamak for 101 seconds.
