Mikel Arteta don’t worry when his position is shaken because of poor performance Arsenal. Arteta admitted that he was ready to be fired at any time because it was a risk.
Arteta is actually able to bring Arsenal to double titles this year, namely the FA Cup and the Community Shield. However, this season’s performance is far from what fans expect.
Fans hoped Arsenal could compete at the top again, but Arsenal’s performance was even worse. The defeat of Wolverhampton with a score of 1-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Monday (11/30/2020) early in the morning WIB, made Arsenal slumped to 14th place in the standings.
Having only 13 points from 10 games, Arsenal recorded their worst start in the Premier League since the 1980/1981 season. Already like that, Arsenal’s attack line which is inhabited by top names such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian and Alexandre Lacazette is even blunt.
This made Arteta under great pressure because he was deemed inadequate to handle Arsenal. So it is only natural when the future of the Spanish manager has been speculated recently.
If Arsenal don’t get better in the near future, then Arteta could lose his job. Regarding this issue, Arteta admitted that he was just ordinary because it was his risk as a manager to be fired whenever the club wanted him.
“When I decided to become a coach, I knew that one day I would be fired or leave the club,” Arteta was quoted as saying France24.
“I don’t know if it was the day after I signed the contract, in a matter of months, a year or six months. I never worried about that,” he continued.
“My focus is only getting the best performance from the players, serving the club as well as possible, and getting better.”
“I repeat yes, I know in this profession, I will definitely be fired or leave one day. But I don’t know when that happened,” concluded Mikel Arteta.
