This award, which is given every two years, is a tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to community cultural work, contributing to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the areas where they carry out their artistic work.
The president of the jury, Agustín Villafaña, a plastic artist, described this award as the most meaningful that an artist can receive, since it is proof that his work has an impact on the people, and that is the best reward.
The event was accompanied by Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister; Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Havana; the Vice Ministers of Culture Fernando Rojas and Kenelma Carvajal; the president of Uneac, Luis Morlote, and Diango González Guerra, president of the National Council of Houses of Culture.
