Art and wrestling – The Herald of León

Today, at 6:00 p.m., the Plaza de la Ciudadanía Griselda Álvarez will be the venue for one of the most important urban art and wrestling events in the city: “De dos a tres falls” organized by the Youth Institute.

In this regard, Rodrigo Camarena, director of urban creativity of the Municipal Youth Institute, pointed out that there are many expectations of the event, despite the fact that it changes venue, since in previous years it was held on the bridge that is located on the Malecón Hilario Medina.

“From two to three falls” is an event that mixes two fundamental elements of Mexican popular culture: urban art, which adorns the walls of the city, and wrestling, a Mexican tradition thanks to emblems such as El Santo, Blue Demon, Octagon, Thousand Masks or Bobby Lee. There will be, in addition to a tour, signing of autographs of different guest fighters. Likewise, recognition will be given to the son of the emblematic fighter Bobby Lee.

Camarena explained:
“There was a concern that we go to other places. That it not only be focused on one point, but that it be taken to other places in the city. They asked us to go to the Plaza de la Ciudadanía to be the first pilot event. Today we hope for an excellent result, that the festival be taken to different points, not just stay in one part of the city”.

Two productions were made: one on the main billboard, and another of Leonese fighters, as well as international ones. They are, then, two large murals. Nine artists were invited, and the fighters who were captured include Octagón, Poison Ivy, Dr. Wagner, La Parka, Huracán Ramírez, Rayo de Jalisco, among others.

Despite the change of venue, Camarena has great expectations, and he also knows that this represents a challenge to know how much he likes the people of the neighborhood where the Plaza de la Ciudadanía is located. This is how it will be measured if the festival continues to move in the coming years.
