Arsenal Weighing January Moves Amidst Contract Decisions for Key Attackers
LONDON – Arsenal is navigating a complex transfer landscape, balancing potential mid-season acquisitions with long-term contract planning for several key players, including Bukayo Saka and gabriel Jesus. While financial resources are available, the club’s January activity will hinge on its title ambitions and the futures of existing squad members.
A pivotal decision looms regarding Gabriel Jesus, who has reportedly attracted interest from other clubs. Ben White, having fallen out of favor with manager Mikel Arteta as Timber has become first-choice at right back, has expressed a desire to return to international duty and could find himself in a similar position regarding his club future. Oleksandr Zinchenko’s situation is also under review, as the Ukrainian is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest under new manager Sean Dyche and is out of contract at the end of the season, perhaps leading to a recall and permanent transfer.
Arsenal previously showed interest in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who has seen his playing time reduced at the Spanish club. Sources indicated both the club and the player would be open to a move, but adding Rodrygo would likely impact current wingers Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, with Saka firmly established as a starter.
The club recently rewarded Trossard with a new contract in august, improving his salary but notably not extending the length of his terms. Martinelli will enter the final year of his contract next summer, and while there are no current indications Arsenal intends to sell him, the contractual situations of both players could create space for another winger if a suitable opportunity arises.
Arsenal is together planning for the summer transfer window, and internal discussions are underway to clarify priorities for both January and the upcoming off-season.
