Jose Mourinho not caring about the struggle for prestige against Arsenal at the North London Derby. Mourinho just wants to increase the position Tottenham Hotspur in the standings.
Tottenham will visit Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the match Premier League, Sunday (14/3/2021) evening WIB. The Spurs will be aiming for a third successive win over their city rivals as well as getting closer to the top flight.
Currently Tottenham are in seventh place with 45 points, seven more than Arsenal, who slumped into 10th position. The Lilywhites only five points adrift of Chelsea, who perched in fourth.
Facing the Gunners, Tottenham just one defeat and two wins in the five meetings between the two clubs in this competition. However, Spurs’ last two trips to the Emirates have never ended with three points; Harry Kane cs was beaten 2-4 in December 2018, then matched by Arsenal 2-2 in September 2019.
Rivalry in North London has recently been getting hotter as Tottenham’s prestige has grown. Ahead of the duel, Spurs manager Mourinho only focuses on his team in the competition to finish in the top four, not position Arsenal in the standings.
“I’m looking up, I’m not looking down,” said her voice Mourinho quoted Metro. “If Arsenal were seven points above us I would have looked at them because we have seven points more than them, I’m not looking down.”
“But at the same time, we always look to the next game. And if it wasn’t Arsenal but Villa or Newcastle, the next games we will face, the feeling will be exactly the same.”
“We feel better than our position in the table and we want to improve our position so we need a lot of points for that. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, it doesn’t matter what the London derby is – in fact we are having a fourth straight in the Premier League.”
“This is a Premier League game, there are three points up for grabs and that’s what we are trying to do,” he said Mourinho ahead Arsenal vs Tottenham.
