Arsenal sign Chelsea forward Willian for three years | NOW

Arsenal confirmed the arrival of attacker Willian on Friday. The experienced Brazilian comes over from fellow townsman Chelsea and signs with ‘The Gunners’ for three years.

Willian has played for Chelsea since the summer of 2013 and also had a starting place with the ‘Blues’ last season. However, the fast winger’s contract expired and he was looking for a new challenge, which he now finds at Arsenal.

“In my opinion, Willian is a player who can really make a difference for us,” said manager Mikel Arteta on the site from Arsenal. “We’ve been following him for a few months now and I’ve been really impressed with how badly he wanted to come to us.”

In seven seasons with Chelsea, Willian played no fewer than 339 official games, scoring 63 times and giving 62 assists. He won two league titles with the Londoners and also won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Before his stint with Chelsea, Willian played for SC Corinthians, Shakhtar Donetsk and Anzhi Makhachkala. The attacker has 69 caps to his name so far for Brazil, with which he won the Copa América in 2019 and participated in two World Cups.

“Willian is a player who can play in three or four different positions and also has a lot of experience,” said Arteta. “In the meantime, he still has the ambition to come here and bring Arsenal back where the club belongs. He brings us a lot of versatility.”
