Arsenal defeats Leicester City in League Cup, Havertz hat-trick for Chelsea | NOW

Arsenal reached the eighth finals of the League Cup on Wednesday at the expense of Leicester City. The Londoners were 0-2 too strong for the leader in the Premier League. Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick for Chelsea against Barnsley.

Leicester City had a slight predominance in their own King Power Stadium, but in the absence of goalgetter Jamie Vardy, manager Brendan Rodgers’ team was unable to convert the many opportunities into goals.

Arsenal did succeed, although ‘The Gunners’ needed help from home club. A bet by Nicolas Pépé ended up on the post in the 57th minute, after which the ball rolled over the goal line via the incoming Christian Fuchs. Edward Nketiah decided the game in injury time with the 0-2.

In the last sixteen, Arsenal will face the winner of the third-round match between Liverpool and League One club Lincoln City, which is scheduled for Thursday.
