Arsenal close to closing the loan of madridista Ødegaard :: Alianza News :: Latin America

London, Jan 25 (EFE) .- The London club Arsenal is close to closing the loan of Real Madrid’s Norwegian midfielder Martin Ødegaard, beating Real Sociedad and Ajax, also interested in the player’s services.

As reported by the British media on Monday, both clubs have sealed an agreement for 1.8 million pounds (2 million euros) by which the London entity agrees to pay the Norwegian player’s salary of 38,000 pounds (42,800 euros) weekly until the end of this season.

Ødegaard, 22, will undergo a medical examination before all the details are finalized.

Arsenal coach, Spanish Mikel Arteta, is confident that the medium will be available in time to be included in the call to play the game against Manchester United next Saturday.

Ødegaard, who joined Real Madrid in 2015 at just 16 years old, stood out in his 2019-2020 season on loan with Real Sociedad. Real Madrid required him again before that season came to an end, although the Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, barely had him.

The agreement with Arsenal does not include the option to buy the Scandinavian although the two clubs will talk about what will be the best solution when the loan comes to an end.

According to the British media, Arteta telephoned the footballer to convince him to choose London instead of going to the Royal Society and the Norwegian is expected to fly to the British capital in the next few hours.

Ødegaard will be Arteta’s second signing before the end of the winter market, after Mathew Ryan, and he will join Spanish Dani Ceballos, also on loan from Real Madrid until next summer.
