Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in New York on Sunday, where he will take part in this year’s United Nations General Assembly.

Erdogan was greeted at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish Ambassador to the United States Hasan Murat Mercan and other officials.

The First Lady of Turkey, Mrs Emine Erdogan, the Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar, the Minister of Trade, Mehmet Mus, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and the Deputy Chairman of the AKP , Binali Yildirim, are part of the delegation accompanying the president during his visit.

Before traveling to New York, Erdogan said that in his speech to the United Nations body he will underline “Turkey’s strong support for multilateralism and the goal of establishing a more global order. just.”

Turkey has long championed the idea of ​​a more representative UN Security Council – a Council larger than its current five permanent members – using the slogan “The world is bigger than five”.

The 76th session of the General Assembly opened last week and the general summit debate will begin on Tuesday. Some 130 heads of state and government are expected on this occasion.
