Arrested three times in two weeks, suspected of vandalism in Ovar remains in preventive detention

According to the Aveiro District Command of the PSP, the suspect, resident in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district, was awaiting trial in freedom for alleged crimes previously committed, but was obliged by the court to daily presentations at the police station in his area of ​​residence, that did not comply.

After a new reinforcement of police surveillance in the city center, agents from the Complexo de Ovar police station arrested the accused at dawn today, for the third time in two weeks, after identifying him in flagrante delicto vandalizing public and third-party assets.

The PSP said that the man was found to cause “damage to a street lamp, having thrown a sidewalk at him”, and also caused damage “to glass in a language school”.

“For the agglomeration of criminal offenses, for the social alarm that was causing [em Ovar] and for the disrespect of the measures that had been decreed ”previously, the defendant was now applied the most severe coercive measure, preventive detention, and the detainee was transported to the Coimbra Prison, says the Aveiro District Command of the PSP .
