Arnaud Soly takes a break from social media

The last few months have not been easy. First, the pandemic and containment, then the Black Lives Matter movement and finally the wave of denunciations will have plunged Quebec into a whirlwind of events causing a real questioning of our society. Many will have been affected.

Comedian Arnaud Soly had for its part undertaken to spread laughter and good humor by offering a lot of content on Instagram during confinement. Although the result has rallied thousands of people and the testimonials are mostly positive, the platform also brought its share of negative. Thing that now weighs heavily on the shoulders of the daddy of little Romane.

This is why Arnaud Soly has chosen to move away from social networks. He explains in more detail the reasons that prompted him to make such a decision in his most recent Instagram post.

« I’m taking a break from social media. During the pandemic, they allowed me to express my creativity on a regular basis, whether through my improvised “ lives ” or my humorous capsules. », Can we first read in his message.

He goes on to stress that although social networks allow “ necessary and courageous speeches », Another much less brilliant side also takes up a lot of space and energy. Arnaud Soly speaks here of hatred: “ is also sense that social networks are spaces that fuel hatred to the detriment of listening. These platforms seem to me to be completely unsuitable for dialogue. My humorous mask-wearing video generated thousands of violent comments, which I believe speaks to collective suffering. »

Even more, the comedian admits to having developed an addiction to social networks. However, the time he spends there is not allocated to the right place, because it is the negative comments that follow him even after his applications are closed: “ I spend hours absorbed in the surly comments, and it undermines my morale. »

He therefore adds: ” So I’m going to remove social media from my phone for the rest of August to free my mind. Don’t take it the wrong way if I don’t answer you, I just need to reconnect with reality. »

« Until then, I wish us more respectful exchanges, nuance, compassion and love », He writes in conclusion.

Its publication has since received the support of hundreds of people. Jessie Nadeau commented in particular: “ I understand you so much. Good break ».

We therefore wish a happy end of summer to Arnaud Soly and his family.
