A woman filed a report against Hammer in 2021, saying the actor was violent during their on-again, off-again relationship and that he raped her. Partly because of the “complex relationship” between Hammer and the woman, the prosecutor cannot prove that it was sex without consent.
After the report, more women came forward with similar allegations. They said the 36-year-old actor forced them into sexual acts, was violent and sent messages revealing himself as a cannibal. Hammer has always denied the stories.
In a statement, Hammer said it was “grateful for the thorough investigation and the conclusion that no abuse has taken place”. “I look forward to starting my normal life again now that my name has been cleared. It will take a long time and not be easy.”
Hammer acknowledged “extreme” lifestyle
Hammer told in an interview with in February Air Mail that he “never forced anything unexpected on anyone”. He did admit to having had a “very intense and extreme lifestyle”.
“I picked up those women, pulled them into the whirlwind of travel and sex and drugs and big emotions flying all over the place. And as soon as I was done with them, I dropped them and moved on to the next woman.”
Hammer said that lifestyle grew out of the abuse he experienced himself when he was 13, but said he is doing better after treatment in rehab. “I am a healthier, happier and more balanced person. I can now be there for my children like never before. I am very grateful for my life and my recovery.”
Hammer was married to entrepreneur Elizabeth Chambers until 2020. Together they have two children. The exes are still good friends, Chambers said earlier.
Hammer was one of the big promises in Hollywood and played roles in films such as J. Edgar, Hotel Mumbai in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. For his role in Call Me By Your Name he was nominated for a Golden Globe.
