Everything seemed to be there in 2015 The Man From U.N.C.L.E. a success. Director Guy Ritchie with its signature ingredients, a budget of $ 75 million dollars and with Henry Cavill in Armie Hammer two charismatic protagonists.
Unfortunately, that success was somewhat lacking. About $ 110 million dollars was raised worldwide. Nevertheless, the film has built up a cult status in recent years as more people discovered the spy title and the question is whether a sequel is coming. At least one person is enthusiastic about that and that is the 34-year-old Hammer:
Trust me, if anyone offers it, I would immediately say ‘yes, let’s go’! I get people asking and I personally hope, because I would love to. Producer and writer Lionel Wigram once told me about it. the idea he had and I thought ‘let’s just fix it’. Keep pushing, then hopefully we can do it someday “!
Dilemma for the makers
In The Man From U.N.C.L.E. we saw the story of CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Hammer). At the height of the Cold War, the two must learn to put their differences aside to track down an arms dealer who wants to supply Nazis with nuclear weapons. The cast included further Alicia Vikander in Hugh Grant.
The end was also clearly intended to start a franchise, but that has not happened so far. The growing cult status is promising, but the (too) low financial return of the original is probably in the way. Do you want to see more From UNCLE?
