On 7 October, local time, the European Council issued a statement saying that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to set up an EU civilian mission on the border between the two countries and that the next meeting of the Boundary Committee of the borders between the two countries will be held in Brussels later this month.

The statement stated that, at the invitation of France and the European Council, the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia met on the sidelines of the first meeting of the European Political Community in the Czech Republic on 6 October and reached the aforementioned Commitment to the Almaty Declaration, the two sides recognize territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The EU civilian mission, which will start in October for a maximum period of two months, aims to build trust and support the demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
