Garifuna Music Legend Armando “Mando” Ballesteros Dies of Heart attack
Santa Fe, Colón - Honduran music is in mourning following the death of armando “mando” Ballesteros, a celebrated performer and icon of Garifuna music, who passed away this Saturday due to a heart attack.He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death.
Ballesteros reportedly experienced severe chest pain and died of cardiac arrest while being transported to a medical facility.
Born in Santa Fe, Colón, Ballesteros rose to prominence within the Garifuna musical community and shared the stage with internationally recognized artists including Los Tigres del Norte, Paquita la del Barrio, and Óscar de León.
Prior to his musical career, Ballesteros worked for three years as a bank teller at City Bank in the United States, saving funds to independently finance his debut album. The album achieved importent success in the United States, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Honduras.
Ballesteros also held a degree in computer technology from New York University,a skill set he integrated alongside his artistic pursuits.
