ariana Grande will miss the Brazil premiere of Wicked: For Good due to flight delays stemming from necessary aircraft maintainance. The singer, reprising her role as Glinda in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the broadway musical, was scheduled to appear at a screening in São Paulo on Tuesday but will be unable to attend.
The cancellation comes as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting the film’s international rollout. Grande explained the situation in a message posted to her Instagram stories, detailing how a safety issue requiring maintenance on her flight meant it wouldn’t depart until 11 a.m. Wednesday, making her arrival after the premiere unachievable.”I can’t believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message,” she wrote.
According to Grande, her team and Universal Pictures explored all possible travel options-including overnight, connecting, commercial, and private flights-but where unable to find a solution. She noted that even securing a private flight was hampered by the time required to obtain necessary permits. “We’ve searched every other flight…and absolutely nothing was available or possible that would get us there in time,” she said. “my team and Universal have tried every single thing possible to fix this.”
“I am so heartbroken that I’m unable to be there with you all,” Grande continued in her message, apologizing to fans and asking them to show support for her castmates.
the Brazil premiere marks the first major international debut for Wicked: For Good. The film previously screened for the Broadway cast in New York last week. Upcoming premieres are scheduled for Paris on November 7, London on November 10, and Singapore on November 13.
