Botafogo indicated that after the success of negotiations with the 61-year-old coach, Ramon signed an initial contract until his arrival in Rio to start working with the team.

Before Diaz, Botafogo was close to announcing Venezuelan Cesar Farias as his new coach, but the coach decided to accept an offer to stay at the helm of the Bolivian national team.

After he was bidding farewell to the Brazil Cup this week against the upcoming second-tier club Coiba, the Botafogo administration fired coach Bruno Lazaroni.
