Argentine citizens furious at high-ranking vaccinations, protest in the streets

In Argentina, protests were held against the high-ranking new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine’cut-off vaccination’.

According to Argentine media and AFP/EFE news agency on the 28th (local time), the day before, thousands of protesters from various cities, including the capital city of Buenos Aires, came to the streets and expressed their anger over the cut-in vaccine.

Protesters gathered at the square in May in front of the Presidential Palace raised their voices against the immorality of some high-ranking people by holding signs with slogans such as “Please return my vaccine” and “Do not waste our money.”

The beginning of the controversy, which is locally called the’VIP vaccination’ scandal, was when a journalist recently used his acquaintance with the health minister to reveal that he was vaccinated before his turn.

Health Minister Hynes Gonzalez Garcia, who gave preferential treatment to a friend, was immediately stiff.

Argentina imported the Russian Sputnik V vaccine from the end of last year and started vaccination with medical staff. However, the amount of vaccination was not enough, so it has only recently expanded the scope of vaccination to elderly people over 70 years old.

On the controversy date, the government released a list of 70 people who had been vaccinated in addition to medical personnel.

The list also included his family with former President Eduardo Doualde, 38-year-old economic minister Martin Gusman, and foreign minister Felipe Solara.

Irene Marsett, who appeared in the protests, condemned the AFP, saying, “We are giving vaccines to friends of government officials. It’s inappropriate. It’s stealing someone else’s life.”

On this day, the protesters hung in front of the presidential palace by attaching name tags of key government officials to black plastic that looks like a body.

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez criticized this as “it is not a democratic way of protest.”

Argentina, which has a population of 45 million, has more than 2.1 million corona19 cumulative confirmed cases and about 52,000 deaths.

Currently, about 1 million people have been vaccinated, and in addition to the Russian vaccine, the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in India and the Sinopam vaccine in China were also received.
