Argentina and Chile will play the opening match of the Copa America 2020, which will kick off next June 12 in Buenos Aires, while Colombia, the other host of the tournament, will start its career against Ecuador in Bogota the following day, according to the draw held early Wednesday in Cartagena de Indias.
The opening match between “Tango” and Chile will take place at the Monumental Stadium, in Buenos Aires, while Colombia will play against its neighbor Ecuador at the Campin Stadium in Bogota.
The tournament will witness the holding of 38 matches with the same number of participating teams: 10 main teams in South America, and two teams invited.
Qatar was again invited to participate in the Copa America, just as it participated in the 2019 Brazil edition, and it will be accompanied by Australia next year.
Argentina and Colombia will host the group (the two northern regions), two games in the quarter-finals, and a game in the semi-finals.
Colombia will play Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Qatar in the northern group, while Argentina will host the southern group which will include Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Australia.
The title is expected to be decided in the final, to be held at Barranquilla Stadium.
