It is important for Ukraine that the large countries participating in the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) organized around her to provide effective support when needed.

The head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, David Arakhamia, spoke about this on the air of a nationwide marathon.

“We want to make our own NATO. It is important for us that the largest and most effective NATO countries provide support in case of aggression. Turkey is very important to us, it is the largest NATO army in Europe. The United States and Great Britain are also important. Very active consultations are ongoing now. It has already been officially announced that three NATO member states are ready to provide guarantees in exactly the format as I said. This is actually Article 5 of NATO, but with a more stringent activation mechanism – they must consult and provide assistance within 72 hours,” he said. is he.

According to Arakhamia, it is very important for Ukraine to receive guarantees from the US and the UK, but these countries are likely to be among the last to join.

“I think the US is very likely to join, because Mr. Blinken said the day before yesterday that they are not averse to considering security guarantees, but they want to study in more detail, weigh all the risks, etc. I have a feeling that the US and Britain together they will be one of the last to join when they see that everyone no longer objects. However, we have a minimum package of guarantor countries, and without them we simply will not move, “commented the head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation.

He noted that only after the signing of the relevant agreement on security guarantees, the next task will be to amend the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the non-bloc neutral status.

“In order to do this, we want to hold a referendum. That is, it will be decided by the Ukrainian people, and not by Ukrainian politicians. This is very important for us, and we insisted on this from the very beginning. The Russian side very actively opposed this norm, but subsequently they agreed that this is the only way out of the situation,” the politician said.
