The Government has reported 157 new coronavirus infections across the country in the last 24 hours. Of these, the bulk is concentrated in three communities: Madrid, Aragon and Andalusia, which account for 75% of these cases with 118. The total figure represents a decrease compared to the daily positives that the Ministry of Health offered this Wednesday, 196, but while the capital and Aragon see their numbers drop, the southern region of Spain registers an increase in cases to 32.

Beyond these three areas, only Catalonia, with 11, exceeds a dozen positives in the last 24 hours. This is the distribution by territories of the new infections: Aragon (47), Madrid (39), Andalusia (32), Catalonia (11), the Basque Country (9), Galicia (7), Valencian Community (3), the Canary Islands ( 2), Castilla y León (2), Extremadura (2), Murcia (2), La Rioja (1). The rest of the communities do not register any new contagion, although Health specifies that in the case of Castilla La Mancha, the regional authorities “have not been able to upload the daily data” corresponding to yesterday. The total number of cases amounts to 247,486, 400 more than the one offered this Wednesday.

“The data remains more or less stable, but yes it is true that in recent days there may be a small loss of that positive trend“he acknowledged at a press conference Fernando Simón, who attributed this situation to the work of detecting the health services of the autonomous communities. “That effort is driving us from 40-45% asymptomatic cases to 60%. That is very likely to continue to rise as detection efforts are made around outbreaks,” he said.

Yesterday 17 cases were reported. The first occurred last Sunday and, for the moment, none have required hospitalization

Regarding the deaths collected by the ministry, the total deaths rises by three compared to yesterday until 28,330. In the last week, Health records 11 deaths from coronavirus across the country. Castilla y León concentrates the vast majority of these deaths with 7, while Asturias, the Valencian Community, Madrid, and the Basque Country have each recorded one death. The rest of the territories, according to the standards of the ministry, do not count any deceased in the last seven days.

Another of the data offered by Health is that of coronavirus patients who have needed to be hospitalized in the last week. This figure drops today to 146 patients, of which a large part corresponds to Madrid, with 68. In addition, Castilla y León (15), Cataluña (14), País Vasco (10), Aragón (8), Andalucía (7), Castilla La Mancha (6), Comunitat Valenciana (5), Murcia (3), Navarra (2), Baleares (2), Canarias (2), Cantabria (2), Extremadura (1) and Galicia (1) registered new hospitalizations. In total, 124,998 people have been hospitalized during the pandemic.

ICU income

The income figure in intensive care units (ICU) in the last seven days it also decreased with respect to the data offered yesterday by Health, going from 16 to 14. Madrid (4), Castilla y León (2), Valencian Community (2), Andalusia (1), Canary Islands (1) , Catalonia (1), Extremadura (1), Navarra (1) and the Basque Country (1) account for new income in these units. In total, 11,651 patients have needed this care during the epidemic.

A fact that reflects the situation of the pandemic in the country is the incidence accumulated in the last 14 days, counted in the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Right now, this one looks at 7.74 positives per 100,000 people, a figure that on May 4 was at 47.24 per 100,000 inhabitants.
