Appointment of a trans officer as head of gender diversity policies in the jails of the Province

In a designation unprecedented in the Province, the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service(SPB) appointed a trans prison officer in a hierarchical position. The warden Ángeles Maribel Helguera (35) will coordinate gender diversity policies and will be in charge of strategies for trans detainees.

The warden served in Unit 45 of Melchor Romero. By order of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Province, she was designated as Coordinator in the SPB’s Subdirectorate for Gender Policies.
