Apple’s WWDC 2023 Predictions: New Macs, Mixed Reality Headsets, and More Updates

Jakarta

Apple will hold an event Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) next week. In addition to updates for software and services, Apple is predicted to show off a series Mac new to this event.

According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the WWDC event this time will have three main focuses, namely a line of new Macs, mixed reality headsets, and a new operating system. Due to the large number of products to be announced, the duration of the keynote speech at the opening of WWDC is predicted to be more than two hours.

It is not yet known what Mac devices will be exhibited by Apple at this event. Gurman previously reported that Apple is preparing a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen and M2 chip.

Apple released the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip at the event WWDC last year, so it’s not impossible that they will take advantage of this year’s event to introduce the MacBook Air with a bigger screen.

Gurman also reports that Apple is testing two high-end Macs with an M2 Max chip and an M2 Ultra chip. It seems that the device in question is the new version of Mac Studio, considering that the previous generation of Mac Studio was more than a year old and had configurations with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips.

Apart from that, Gurman also reports on a new Mac with an M3 chip that has yet to be launched. The devices that will use this chip are likely the new MacBook Air and iMac, as quoted from The Verge, Thursday (1/6/2023).

Apple last released the iMac M1 in May 2021 so it’s time for this device to be updated. Gurman previously said that the iMac would likely only be available in the second half of 2023, so even if it was announced at the WWDC event, this device could not be purchased immediately.

Luckily we don’t have to wait long to see what products Apple will announce. WWDC 2023 will be held on June 5, 2023 with a keynote speech which will start at 13.00 western American time.
