LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.TVApple’s original computer, handcrafted by company founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak 45 years ago, is auctioned in the United States on Tuesday (09/11/2021) as reported by the Straits Times.

The still functioning Apple-1 is the great-grandfather of the Macbook Pro. One set of computers is expected to be auctioned for up to 600,000 US dollars in California.

The computer is called “Chaffey College” The Apple-1, one of only 200 made by the hands of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak at the start of the adventure Apple Computer from a garage to a world giant worth 2 trillion US dollars today.

What makes this computer special and much more rare is, the computer is wrapped in koa wood, a native Hawaiian wood that is rich in pattern. Only a handful of the original 200 Apple computers were made this way.

The Apple-1 was mostly sold as a component by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. One computer shop that ordered about 50 units decided to wrap some of them in wood, the auction house said.

“It’s sort of a holy cup or holy grail antique electronics and computer technology collectors, “Apple-1 expert Corey Cohen told the Los Angeles Times.” That really makes it appealing to a lot of people. “

Auction house John Moran Auctioneers said the device, which was equipped with a 1986 Panasonic video monitor, was only ever owned by two people.

“This was originally purchased by an electronics professor at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California, who later sold it to his students in 1977,” says a listing on the auction house’s website.
