Apple would test an iPhone 13 with large bezels to remove the notch

L’iPhone 13 will he draw a line on the notch? It seems unlikely, but Apple is still working on an alternative. If we are to believe the leaker Mauri QHD, whose comments were reported by Wccftech, then the brand would internally test a prototype equipped with large borders to… get rid of the notch.

The iPhone notch doesn’t just have fans. It even has many detractors around the world. Especially in people who have never used a smartphone of the brand.

If many see it as an unsightly element, it is clear that this notch is not there to decorate. It houses all the sensors used by Face ID. Without it, iPhone users would therefore not be able to benefit from secure facial recognition.

An iPhone 13 without a notch or with a reduced notch?

Apple is reportedly working on alternatives, however. Certain sources thus evoke a possible return of Face ID, others a new architecture intended to miniaturize the sensor present in the notch.

Mauri QHD, for his part, evokes a third track… to say the least surprising.

According to the leaker, Apple would indeed be testing a prototype iPhone 13 with a very particular look. Without notch, the device would indeed have four prominent edges around the slab.

Concretely, therefore, the brand would try to move the sensors used by Face ID in the space between the top of the phone panel and the upper edge of its chassis. If the idea seems pretty good, it would however result in a thickening of the borders, which could at the same time gain 4 or 5 millimeters compared to current models.

Everything in the borders, nothing in the notch

On the other hand, the leaker at the origin of this rumor specifies that the brand has not yet made its choice. This prototype would therefore be far from being the only one on the list.

In addition, Mauri QHD also indicates that this prototype would not necessarily be in the study for the next iPhone, but perhaps for the next – and therefore for the iPhone 14.

The fact remains that if this information is true, then it proves once again that the apple brand is determined to put an end to this famous notch, a notch that has earned it many teasing in recent years … but which has also been during a time very copied by the competition.
