Apple will soon end production of the iPhone 12 Mini?

Weak sales of the iPhone 12 mini are thought to have caused production to be discontinued.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Seri iPhone 12 started an upgrade that is expected to continue through 2022 with the iPhone 13. Despite this, Apple’s iPhone 12 mini has been underperforming.

A new report claims that production has ended. Reported from Phone Arena, Tuesday (22/6), in a research note published on Apple’s planned production of the iPhone 13 series for the second half of 2021, TrendForce claims iPhone 12 mini The 5.4-inch reached “end of life” status earlier this quarter following weak sales.

In other words, Apple has ended iPhone production 12 mini permanently. The company will continue to sell existing stock for as long as the summer months the device is still available on Apple.com with no sign of delay ahead of the September 13 iPhone launch.

The end of production of the iPhone 12 mini, which has not been confirmed by Apple, corroborates a research note published in February by JP Morgan that stated Apple plans to halt production at some point this quarter.

Apple discontinued assembly of the iPhone 12 mini so quickly it would have to be officially discontinued in September following the arrival of the iPhone 13. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are also expected to be discontinued, as well as the iPhone XR.

This move will put the Apple iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series in the lineup for the coming holiday season.

Apple is planning a successor to the iPhone 12 mini in the form of the iPhone 13 mini, although the current model has performed poorly since its release. However, the company has learned its lesson, and will actively push for a larger iPhone 13 model.

As for the long-term future of the mini model, that’s in doubt at the moment. Reports suggest Apple will replace the 5.4-inch iPhone with an affordable version of the 6.7-inch flagship in 2022, likely to be marketed as the iPhone 14 Max.
