Apple wants to stop book that may contain secrets about App Store NOW

Apple is trying to stop the publication of a book written by a former App Store manager. The book would describe confidential trade secrets, writes the German Focus.

The German-language book App Store Confidential is written by Tom Sadowski. From 2014 to 2019 he led the App Stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The book was about his time at Apple and meetings with Tim Cook.

Apple has sent a letter to the writer and his publisher. They are asked to stop delivering the book to stores, to recall shipped copies and to destroy manuscripts.

In a statement to The Verge Apple writes that the company has always supported different types of writers, but that Sadowski has broken the rules. “We think it is a shame that an employee who has worked with us for a long time has disrupted our working relationship. Because of his action we could not but end his contract.”

Sadowski says he has shared his manuscript with Apple for publication. According to him, his book Apple will do more than do harm. It is not known what the next steps are.
