Apple to launch 10.8-inch iPad in 2020, 8.5-inch iPad mini in 2021

Currently, the standard iPad, the so-called seventh generation of the family, is a device with a 10.2-inch screen. In the second half of this year, however, there would be a plan to launch a new 10.8-inch variant.

That’s what well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released in a new research note, which has been picked up by the website MacRumors. In addition, there would also be an 8.5-inch iPad Mini, which should be released in 2021.

A new 10.8-inch iPad is coming

It is not entirely clear whether the new 10.8-inch iPad will replace one of the current models or whether it is a new product that will exist alongside the current variants. In addition to the ‘normal’ variant of 10.2-inch, you also have the Air, which uses a 10.5-inch screen. The Mini would, incidentally, just become the new model. The last time it was upgraded was in March 2019, so a release in 2021 would mean two years in between, which is not very surprising. With the latest update, the Mini received an A12 Bionic Chip, an improved front camera and the support of the original Apple Pencil.

In addition to the news that two new iPad models are coming, Kuo also announced what he plans to do with the new 20W power adapter. It recently surfaced. At first we thought that it would come with the iPhone 12. But now it is expected that it will be delivered without a power adapter. According to Kuo, it would be an optional upgrade that users can purchase. But when you buy a new generation iPad, this device would be included, so you can charge it faster when the battery is empty.
