Urgence SOS allows you to call emergency services and trusted people in seconds without having to dial even one phone number. This feature can be useful in several situations.
If you are involved in an accident or find yourself in difficult circumstances and feel unsafe, this feature is both dissuasive and reassuring. By quickly pressing the side button on your iPhone (the one used to open and close the phone) 5 times a 3 second countdown starts and your phone calls emergency services directly indicating your exact location. A notification will be sent to your emergency contacts along with your location so they can reach you as soon as possible. This function is very easy to activate:

Settings → SOS emergency → Activate the “Call using the side button” and “Automatic call” function.
Going further down you can activate the “Countdown sound” option which triggers a sound indicating that the countdown has started. A practical function in case of accidental activation on your part. The shrill sound can also be a deterrent if you feel unsafe.
By activating these two options, you will not need to dial the emergency numbers and 5 quick taps on the side button will be enough to immediately notify the emergency services.
It is important to define emergency contacts even if this option is not activated. In the event of a problem, they will be the first to be notified by the emergency services or the people taking care of you.
The “Automatic call” function requires a SIM card so that emergency services can be contacted instantly. In some countries it is necessary to specify which number should be dialed by telephone.
