Apple suspends Find My Network support for AirPods Pro and Max – Photos and Audio

Find My Support for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max won’t be available when iOS 15 releases, but “later this fall”. This is evidenced by changes to the page where Apple mentions the features of the operating system.

It’s already possible to use the Find Me function to detect AirPods, but it currently works with Bluetooth and headphones must be within Bluetooth range to be able to find them. With iOS 15, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max both gain support for the collectively outsourced Find My network and devices can be detected when they are in close proximity to all the devices they are a part of.

According to Apple’s description, it gives users a rough estimate of the location of their AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. This allows the user to access the Bluetooth range, after which the audio can be played to find the headphones. On Apple’s US website, Job title Now asterix, with the explanation that the feature will be available “later this fall.” It’s not clear why Apple is delaying this feature.

Apple announced iOS 15 in June. The new version of the mobile operating system will be released on Monday, September 20, and can be installed on any Apple smartphone running iOS 14, be it iPhone 6s or later. iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8 will also be released on Monday.
