Apple stopped selling more than two iPhones in one hand

Apple, due to the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, has limited the purchase of iPhone in the online store to two pieces per person. In many countries, including the USA and China, at the stage of adding goods to the basket, you can select no more than two devices, informs Reuters.

Checking Vesti.Ru showed that the restriction applies to the Russian online store Apple. Any model, even the aging iPhone 8, is released in an amount of up to 2 copies. In the case of other products, the limit does not apply: for example, you can order up to 999 iPad Air tablets or Apple Watch Series 5 smart watches.

The last time the company imposed a limit on the volume of purchases in 2007, when the first iPhone model was released, the agency recalls. As then, Apple fears speculators who resell devices on the gray market. Tim Cook’s firm cannot meet demand, as the spread of coronavirus has led to supply chain disruptions and limited logistics capabilities, and all Apple retail stores outside of China have been closed.

In February, Cook turned to investors in a letter warning that iPhone shipments around the world would be temporarily limited due to the slow pace of factory recovery in China. Referring to an outbreak of coronavirus, he said that his company was unlikely to meet its initial forecast for revenue for the second quarter of the year.

Last week, Apple announced that the annual WWDC will be held for the first time in a remote format, since physical presence can pose a risk to the health of participants. In addition, the company recently banned its employees from visiting Italy and South Korea, and also refused to participate in the SXSW 2020 festival, which was supposed to present three exclusive series for Apple TV +.
