Apple reportedly launched an iPad Pro mini-LED in March – KitGuru

Apple could release its next-generation iPad Pro much sooner than expected. Reports this week say the next 12.9-inch iPad Pro will arrive in March, with a mini-LED display.

According to Sources of MacOtakara’s supply chain, the iPad Pro mini-LED will be 0.5mm thicker than the previous generation but the style of the case will remain the same. There may be slight tweaks in speaker placement, but that seems like the only noticeable change aside from the extra thickness.

The big upgrade here is the display. The mini-LED is a new form of backlighting that offers many of the same benefits as OLED, but with better brightness, better energy efficiency, and reduced risk of burns. Apple has so far been reluctant to incorporate OLED displays into its tablet lineup, it seems that for its larger displays Apple chooses to focus on mini LEDs instead due to its advantages.

If all of this turns out to be true, Apple is expected to host a virtual announcement in March. We can also see a new 11-inch iPad Pro during this time.

Respond: I was waiting for a major screen upgrade before picking up a new iPad. Depending on how the mini-LED ends up comparing to OLED, this could end up on my shopping list later in the year. Are you thinking about buying an iPad in 2021? Will you wait for new models to launch first?
