Apple must stop using the Beats brand name

In the spring of 2014 cooks Apple Beats. The brand name Beats was best known for the popular headphones, but before Apple The idea behind the takeover was to start its own streaming service. After the introduction of Apple Music a year later, the Beats name has become less popular. Headphones and new earbuds have been released, but not with as much success as during the heyday of Beats. Is it time for Apple to stop using Beats altogether?

Should Apple stop Beats?

In recent years, Apple has released a few new headphones under the Beats brand name, such as the Powerbeats Pro and the Beats Studio Pro. But there were also years when no new Beats products appeared, apart from a new color on an existing model. Moreover, we have seen more and more often in recent years that the name Beats disappears in the background.

No more Beats on Back to School promotion

Apple’s Back to School-actie has rewarded students-to-be with free Beats headphones for years. When purchasing a new iPad of MacBook for example, you got a Beats Studio 3 Wireless or a more advanced version for a small additional cost. But not this year. Apple is now treating you to a free set of AirPods. The Beats headphones are of course still for sale at Apple, but Apple is putting them in the spotlights less and less.

Apple’s own headphones are coming

Of course, that also has to do with the popularity of the AirPods. As far as I am concerned, that is the main reason to stop the Beats brand. The AirPods have now become such a big name that Apple is now mainly competing with itself with Beats. You also saw that the headphones from Beats on the one hand and Apple on the other have grown closer together. The Beats Solo Pro and the AirPods Pro appeared shortly after each other. The transparency mode that Apple first added to the Beats Solo Pro subsequently appeared on the AirPods Pro. You can be poisoned that we also use this or a similar mode AirPods Studio going to see. These are the headphones that Apple has been working on for a while.

For a long time it was unclear for these headphones whether they would be released under the brand name Beats or under Apple’s own name. Meanwhile, it seems that Apple opts for AirPods Studio, once again competing with their own Beats headphones.

Add to that the fact that Beats has not been making speakers like the Beats Pill for a while, so there are few ways to differentiate themselves from Apple’s own audio products. Apple also has the HomePod and is also working on one HomePod mini.

Incidentally, there is still a difference in the audio quality between the audio products from Beats and Apple. Beats are characteristic of the hard bass. That’s at the AirPods Pro for example, much less the case. But we don’t know yet how the new AirPods Studio is going to sound. Perhaps it is also moving more towards the Beats headphones.

End Beats 1

Today Apple also pulled the plug on Beats 1. In principle it is new Apple Music 1 remained almost the same in terms of content, but Apple is sending a clear signal to me. It’s all about the own brand names such as Apple Music and therefore AirPods. Apple benefits more from the awareness of the AirPods and Apple Music than selling new Beats products.

As far as I am concerned, the entire Beats brand could therefore be better transferred to Apple’s own audio division. It seems very unlikely that Beats would continue on its own again. Apple seems crazy not to keep the people at Beats in-house and let them go free. Moreover, such an aggregation allows Apple to focus more on one set of audio products, namely its own AirPods in HomePod-line.

What is still important to mention is that Apple earlier this spring denied wanting to phase out Beats. This rumor was thrown into the world by a source, but Apple would not have any plans for this yet.

What do you think? Is it better for Apple to stop Beats or is there still music in it? Let us know in the poll!
