Apple may soon be able to edit sent messages

Text messages, whether aging text messages or instant messaging messages, have become one of the most widely used means of communication in recent years. Apple is considering the possibility of modifying them once sent.

If you are used to sending text messages, whatever they are, then you have most likely noticed an error just after pressing the “send” button. Too late, unfortunately. Most instant messaging platforms allow you to cancel sending, giving you a chance to send the right message. But Apple think about the possibility ofedit sent messages directly.

Apple patent describes system for editing sent messages

Indeed, if we believe one patent recently discovered by AppleInsider, the Cupertino company is reportedly working on a system that would allow users to modify the messages sent. And what’s interesting about this idea is that it could be the very first time that a message sent over a cellular network could be edited. Platforms like Discord or Slack allow you to modify a message sent, but this is possible because the messages are transmitted via a centralized server. Changes can therefore be saved quickly and applied to all users in the lounge. Unlike more conventional messages like SMS.

To enrich your iMessage platform?

The patent also suggests that it would be possible for users to view the release history. This would still keep an eye on the original message. To prevent the sender from completely altering their original thought without your knowledge. That being said, as with most patents, it is unclear whether Apple will make this idea a reality. In any case, this seems to indicate that Apple is considering ways to enrich its iMessage platform to better withstand the current competition. Being able to modify the messages sent could indeed be a very interesting option. To be continued !
