Apple M2 Max / M2 Pro benchmarks exposed! GPU graphics performance has really improved significantly

Apple Apple officially claims that the latest M2 Max and M2 Pro chips have professional-level performance and energy-saving performance, and are faster and better than the previous generation, but is this true? Although the MacBook Pro and Mac mini equipped with these two chips have not yet been launched in Taiwan, at this stage we can only look at the latest benchmark data from the Geekbench database to see that the performance of these two new chips has really improved significantly!

According to Geekbench’s Metal running score, the M2 Pro chip has a built-in 12-core CPU (with 8 performance cores and 4 energy-saving cores), a 19-core GPU, and 32GB unified memory. The running score is 52,691.

As for the M2 Max with a built-in 12-core CPU and 64GB unified memory, the running score is even higher, with a score of 86,805.

Foreign media “MacRumors” reported that this time the running score is the MacBook Pro equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Compared with the previous running scores of several Apple Silicon chips, the results are indeed quite good:

  • M1 Ultra:94,583

  • M2 Max:86,805

  • M1 Max:64,708

  • M2 Pro: 52,691

  • M1 Pro:39,758

However, M2 Pro and M2 Max still lost to Apple’s M1 Ultra flagship chip for Mac Studio. Although M1 Ultra is a first-generation chip, its running score is about 9% faster than M2 Max.

If M1 Ultra is not mentioned, just look at the two chips of Max and Pro, the performance of M2 Max and M2 Pro in GPU image display is indeed about 30% higher than that of M1 Pro/M1 Max, which is comparable to Apple’s Advertisement matches.
