Apple M2 Max Benchmarks Indicate 20% Performance Increase Over M1 Max – Computing – News

Well 20%? I find that disappointing because it’s 20% growth in the multicore benchmark and 20% cores have been added. Yes, cool, performance scales with more cores, but otherwise there’s little new under the sun.

Single core performance increases slightly because the clock on one core can be higher, well… Not very impressive either, to be honest. There too the score scales almost equal to the gain in clock speed.

The cores in M1 and M2 therefore behave the same, only M2 carries more cores.

Then they magnify the same chip by 20% and that’s it. New name, price increase, and they’ll be running back to the store.
