Apple Developer Academy Graduated 400 Students From All Over Indonesia

JawaPos.com – Apple Developer Academy officially celebrated the graduation of 400 students across Indonesia through a virtual event on Tuesday (8/12) yesterday. These graduates are part of three academies located in Jakarta, Surabaya and the first batch to graduate from academies located in Batam.

The virtual event was attended by Apple’s Vice President for Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives, Lisa Jackson, said that the students who graduated from the Apple Developer Academy this year have shown their resilience very well. The students were also said to have displayed extraordinary intelligence and determination. Namely in adapting to new ways of learning directly in order to acquire the skills needed to develop iOS applications. As well as participating in a rapidly growing application economy.

“These graduates leave the academy with important skills that they can use to make the world better, and we can’t wait to see the extraordinary things they will achieve,” he said.

With the challenges caused by Covid-19, including the temporary closure of academy premises, students must quickly adapt to distance learning, collaborating with one another but in separate places. Many applications developed in the past 10 months also reflect the ‘new normal,’ which includes provisions for emergency care services, e-commerce platforms, to interactive distance learning.

As part of this virtual event, four groups of student developers had the opportunity to present their applications:

Aura, a tool for emergency care and de-stigmatization services for Indonesians with epilepsy; Muara, an interactive distance learning for the National Museum of Indonesia; Quipy, an application that manages inventory, online sales transactions and customer input via customized keyboard shortcuts; and Aksaraya, an application that focuses on preserving traditional Javanese scripts using Apple Pencil and iPad.

In fact, the Aura, Quipy and Aksaraya applications are confirmed to be available starting Tuesday (8/12) on the App Store. Several students from the developer group have been invited to Apple’s Entrepreneur Developer Camp for Women, where they will have the opportunity to receive code-level personal guidance from Apple experts and engineers, as well as guidance, inspiration and insight from Apple’s top leaders.

A total of 13 academy graduates, as scholarship winners, have also previously attended three editions of Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference.

Since 2017, more than 450 students have studied at the Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia, with 400 students currently enrolled. Applications for next year’s class have attracted interest from 80 cities across Indonesia, including a 100 percent increase in female registrants compared to last year’s number.
