Appearing Anomaly, NASA Delays First Helicopter Flight to Mars

Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA – NASA postponed the first flight of helicopters to explore Mars at the end of last week. This is because of an anomaly or anomaly that occurred during the last test of the unmanned flying vehicle named Ingenuity.

The NASA official explained that during the high-speed rotation test of the rotor on Friday (9/4/2021), the order of orders controlling the test ended early because the timer or supervisor had expired. “This happened while trying to switch the flight computer from pre-flight mode to flight mode. But the helicopter is safe and sound, still communicating its full telemetry to Earth,” the official said as quoted by Live Science, Monday (12/4/2021). .

The statement added that helicopter technicians were still reviewing data from the small helicopter to understand exactly what happened, but that the team would reschedule the failed test. The NASA test aims to see the helicopter blades reach high speeds such as flying 2,400 rounds per minute.

“Ingenuity will now remain firmly entrenched on the surface of the Red Planet until at least Wednesday (April 14, 2021),” said the statement from the United States’ aerospace and aerospace agency.

Ingenuity arrives on the surface of Mars on February 18, 2021. This helicopter is transported to the Red Planet along with a demonstration project of the car-sized Perseverance rover technology. Once the rover was at his landing site in Jezero Crater, Ingenuity began searching for airfields for historic flights on the planet where humans would live.

Before going through the test flight, this helicopter has several targets including surviving the cold Mars night supported by energy harvested by solar panels.
