JAKARTA – A number of elite forces TNI in full uniform had appeared around the DPP Headquarters Islamic Defenders Front (FPI)in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. In response to this, the National Secretary for the Public Interest Lawyer Network (Pilnet) Erwin Natosmal Oemar stated, in principle, the TNI Law has provided clear boundaries regarding military operations other than war (OMSP).

“Namely through state policy or politics,” said Erwin when contacted SINDOnews, Friday (20/11/2020).

Erwin said that the country’s politics must refer to the principles of democracy, civil supremacy, human rights, the provisions of national law and international law that have been ratified.

Furthermore, Erwin said that technically, the country’s political decisions must be formulated between the President and the DPR. Thus, in the context of the above case, the reduction in elite troops does not meet the requirements for state political decisions as meant by law TNI.

“The presence of Presidential Decree 66 of 2019 is not intended to get out of the intent of state political decisions as meant by the TNI Law,” he said.
