App for ID cards with new functions

With the latest update to version 1.22.0, new functions are added to the AusweisApp2 one, according to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs. It should be mentioned that the app can now check whether the smartphone and ID are even ready for mobile use. In addition to the technical components, such as the necessary NFC interface, a check is also carried out to determine whether the online ID functionality for the ID is active at all and whether there are too many incorrect PIN entries that led to a blocking.

While an SDK was already available for Android, Windows and macOS for integration into other apps, such an SDK will also follow for iOS apps. It is well known that Apple had the NFC interface for such purposes only opened last autumn. A The corresponding iOS app has therefore only been available since autumn 2019 to disposal. The SDK now also includes the option to change the PIN. Particularly useful if the user is still on the move with the transport pin.

In addition to improved pin management, there is now a help area including video tutorials to disposal. The version for macOS is now also available via the App Store, including the possibility of updates. Version 1.22.0 also supports the eID, which citizens of the European Union and members of the European Economic Area can apply for from January 1, 2021.
