APM Terminals Barcelona obtains the OEA certification for customs procedures – El Mercantil

The container terminal APM Terminals Barcelona has been certified as an Authorized Economic Operator (OEA) for customs procedures. “Obtaining it means being considered by the European Union as trustworthy regarding our professional activity in customs matters”, they assured from the terminal located in the port of Barcelona. “We have made a great effort to obtain this authorization.” Likewise, the terminal has also had OAS certification in the field of protection and security for five years.

The audit that the Tax Agency has carried out to issue the OEA contemplates, in this case, that APM Terminals Barcelona has accredited financial solvency and a record of compliance with customs regulations, as well as rigorous control of accounting and commercial procedures, IT and customs. In addition, it also certifies that the company has adequate levels of physical security at its facilities. “Obtaining the AEO has become especially important since the new EU Customs Code (CAU), a new framework for relations between customs and AEOs in foreign trade, is in force,” the terminal added.
