Aosta, 18 February 2020 – It is died yesterday, at 17 months of age, in the Resuscitation department of the Regina Margherita hospital in Turin, where she had arrived in very serious conditions after an odyssey that had led her to be visited in Aosta four times by four different pediatricians.
On the heartbreaking death of the child, following the denunciation of the family members, the prosecutor of Aosta Francesco Pizzato has opened a file initially for culpable injury, and then go on to speculate manslaughter, and put under investigation the four doctors of the USL who visited the little girl the four times that the parents, worried about the cough that did not pass and the temperature, took her to the emergency room of the Aosta hospital. Last time they listened to them, but there was nothing more to do.
While desperate, the parents gave their consent to organ donation.

Four unnecessary rushes to the hospital

Father and mother had brought the baby to the hospital for the first time, in the Beauregard pediatric unit in Aosta, on Wednesday February 5. Inflammation of the respiratory tract, and after the blood tests the child had been discharged as if it were a simple flu easy to keep under control.
The next day, however, Thursday February 6, the parents had returned again with the baby because it did not improve at all: another pediatrician had visited her. Stationary clinical picture and invitation to go home.
And we arrive on Tuesday February 11th: the girl was still sick, or worse, and dad and mom took her to the emergency room again. Again, after the visit, the little girl is discharged even if she had a fever and cough after all those days of treatment and convalescence that had not resolved the situation. She is given paracetamol and cortisone therapy, including aerosol to help her breathe.
On the evening of February 12On Wednesday, after a week of tribulation and ran to the hospital, the situation is so worrying that the parents return to the pediatric hospital with the baby. An hour later, around midnight, the clinical picture falls. A resuscitator is called, the girl is transferred to the Parini hospital, also in Aosta, and then a helicopter takes her to the Regina Margherita in Turin. It comes with severe respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. Her condition is desperate and all attempts to keep her alive fail.
