antwerp Police Arrest Four Suspects following Fireworks Bomb Attack on Wilrijk Apartment Building
Antwerp police have arrested four suspects in connection wiht an attack on a building in Wilrijk early Saturday morning. A firework bomb and a bottle of fuel were detonated at the property on Polostraat at approximately 7:00 AM, causing critically important damage to the front door and defacing the facade with the word “thief.”
Three of those arrested are minors and were brought before the juvenile judge, who imposed an appropriate measure. The adult suspect was initially brought before the public prosecutor’s office but released due to insufficient evidence.
The attack is the fifth such incident in Antwerp in recent weeks. Previous attacks include two on a house on Boerberglei in Borgerhout, linked to drug criminal Anass ‘AP’ O., leader of the ‘Hotdog Factory’ gang, and an explosion near the home of Redouan EH, also known as Panda, on Kistemaeckersstraat in Borgerhout. A recent explosion also damaged an apartment building in Edegem, also believed to have targeted ‘panda,’ who has denied allegations of stealing 220 kilos of cocaine.
authorities are investigating whether the Wilrijk attack is connected to these earlier incidents.
